MDS ADMISSION 2013
Admission in the MDS courses such as Conservative Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Orthodontics shall be made as per Hon'ble Supreme Court of India orders to be passed in W.P. (C) no.'s 98/101/478 of 2012 pending in the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. However, for admission under Sikh Minority Quota in these specialities (i.e. 50% of the total seats) is being made by holding a test on 16.5.2013 for which application form alongwith the Prospectus are available in Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Amritsar and the last date for submitting application is 10.5.2013 upto 3.00 p.m. Prospectus can also be purchased from Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College, Vallah and Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital, Amritsar in the city itself. Detail of competitive test is given in the Prospectus. The interested candidates who want to take admission under Sikh Minority Quota, shall purchase the same and proceed accordingly.
A) UNDER SIKH MINORITY QUOTA
- There are total 8 seats under Sikh Minority Quota . Out of these 8, two seats are reserved for NRI candidate in the Speciality of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics. (Only actual NRI is eligible for this seat, Indian residing in India cannot apply for same. The NRI candidate must get eligibility certificate from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot as NRI candidate. For him/her, there is no binding for appearing in competitive test . No candidate other than original/actual NRI shall be considered for this seat. Fee for actual NRI candidate is one lac dollars for the whole course).
- Rest 7 seats under Sikh Minority/Management Quota shall be filled on the basis of All India Competitive test for MDS. Management has got no role for admission for these seats. In other words, who so ever appears in competitive test and is on merit shall be selected for the seats during counseling.However, he/she must be eligible for this seat by passing the Sikh Religion Test as given above.
- The 7 seats are mentioned as follows :
Conservative Dentistry - 1 seat
Oral Surgery - 1 seat Orthodontia - 1 seat
Prosthodontics - 1 seat Periodontia - 2 seats
- Date of Counseling shall be intimated later which will be held in the office of Director-Principal, Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College, Vallah.
b) ADMISSION UNDER GOVT./UNIVERSITY QUOTA
Total 9 seats will be filled by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
Conservative Dentistry - 1 seat (open) , 1 seat (reserved for BC candidate)
Oral Surgery - 1 seat (reserved for BC candidate)
Orthodontia - 1 seat (Open)
Prosthodontics - 1 seat (open) and 1 seat (reserved for BC candidate)
Periodontia - 1 seat (Open)

Master of Dental Surgery (PG Courses)
This Institute is running MDS (Post graduate Course) in five Specialties namely Conservative Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Orthodontics and Periodontics. Students who have completed their BDS Degree and one year compulsory rotatory paid Internship, are eligible for the admission to this course.
50% i.e. 7 seats are filled by Punjab Govt.. Out of total 15 postgraduate seats, 8 seats are filled on the basis of Sikh Minority Quota among the eligible candidates of Sikh Community. Out of 8 seats, 6 are for General quota candidates and 2 for NRI candidates. For Govt. quota seats, the candidates shall be allotted by the University/Punjab Govt. amongst the qualified candidates of postgraduate entrance test conducted by AIIMS and for Sikh Minority quota seats, the admission is done by the Institute on the basis of merit of All India competitive test.
